Case for the ongoing presence of the Francos de Montréal festival

Mandate and context

With the arrival of web giants such as Spotify, Quebec's artistic and musical community is facing new challenges in terms of exposure and visibility. Added to this is the rising cost of production for festivals, which puts a great deal of pressure on Les Francos.

Implementation and solutions

Volume10 has developed an argument demonstrating that, initially, the Francos' popularity, attendance and economic spin-offs continue to grow, playing a creative role in the evolution of French-language music in Quebec. However, sponsorships and subsidies have not kept pace with rising attendance and costs.

Impact and outcomes

The Équipe Spectra is in negotiations to determine a revised funding structure that will enable the festival to continue on its current path.
