Mandate and context
In a context of increasing private and public construction sites, the road network allowing access to Montreal and its center seems dysfunctional, which has a negative impact on the fluidity of transportation, public satisfaction and traffic. The CCMM would like to improve the coordination of the various construction sites to improve the image and stimulate the economy of the downtown area.
Implementation and solutions
IdéesFX has produced a large-scale study on the attractiveness and accessibility of downtown Montreal through the innovative management of public and private worksites. In order to achieve this, the firm painted a detailed picture of mobility in Montreal and identified the main challenges to be overcome. Several solutions and tools for the short, medium and long term were proposed.
Impact and outcomes
The Minimum Blockage Project has brought the city center’s ecosystem together around a common vision and tangible goals. In addition, a smart planning and coordination mechanism was put in place. Several communication, awareness and promotion initiatives were carried out to improve the public's perception of worksites and the attractiveness of the city center.
