Mandate and context
Parc Jean-Drapeau is Montreal's largest urban park, which, in addition to its exceptional cultural and heritage value, offers citizens and visitors a privileged contact with nature and the St. Lawrence River. The park wanted to renegotiate its partnership with Evenko, particularly with regard to OSHEAGA, which allegedly generated too much noise and inconvenience for local residents.
Implementation and solutions
Volume10 has developed an argument demonstrating that the protection of OSHEAGA, ILESONIQ and LASSO benefits citizens (world-class events for Montrealers, a gathering place for young people, a chance to discover local culture), the city (raising the profile of the metropolis and contributing to its reputation) and the park (allowing younger generations to discover and appropriate the park, reviving the spirit of Expo67).
Impact and outcomes
Evenko and the CH Group have reached an agreement that will enable the festivals to continue to exist and promote artists, while preserving the Park's heritage.
